FIND OUT YOUR OWN ORIGINAL AUTHOR PSEUDONYM//PEN NAME

So I know That Absolutely Nothing Can Top Pseudonymous Bosch.

But today, we’re certainly going to try to top it!

Pen names are pretty frickin awesome if you ask me.

Named Billy Bob Jones?  Easy, take a pen name.

Not allowed or uncomfortable sharing your real name?  Use these pen names!!

Some people feel that pen names are like people being fake???  No no no, it’s a cool name that an author can be recognized more for.  Because I’d rather read a book by a Trixi Winship rather than a Jessica Smith if ya know what I mean.

Pen names are like secret identities and code names.  You can use these as like nick names cute little pet names or whatever the heck you want!  These are super easy and adorable and just all around amazing wow I’m humble about my content.

The main reason why girls use pen names is because of gender bias in the bookish community.  Like the fact that women are more likely to take pen names if they’re writing sci-fi or horror is just beyond me…and honestly if you want me to rant about a topic this is the one!!!  I could write a bajillion words worth on this, so let’s just say I’ll save it for another post.  😉

The other thing is that sometimes a legal name could be similar to a more well known author, and there could be much confusion to be had if your name is Stephen King lol

Or if you write middle grade and adult horror, you might want to take a pen name for one of those genres you write in so that you don’t have a 9 year old reading a horror book and screaming in the middle of the night and angering their soccer moms.

Are you ready to find YOUR own original pen name/Psuedonym?

unless someone chose the same name as you which would be unfortunate… in which case you would have to have a duel to the death over it!  Much fun!

First these are the more feminine names, but you know what?  You can take either or, because gender roles are just….

So all you need to do is find the first initial of your first name and then choose the name next to it, in case it wasn’t clear.  But honestly if you dislike the name your initials led you to, nothing is stopping you from picking the name you like the most lol.

So my first Initial is S, so my first psuedonym name is Maybelline!

And these are more masculine type names, you can use these for either genders though as we did with the female ones!

Mine is S, so if I chose this one, it would be Roth!

And finally, the last name, which is compatible for any of the previous first names.  Think of the first initial of your favorite celebrity, so since mine is of course, Taylor Swift.  Because who else?

My pseudonym/ Pen name is Maybelline Cosmet!

What is YOUR pen name?  Would you write anything under it?  What was your favorite celebrity?  What’s your next favorite name on here?  What’s your least favorite name in here?

  2. LOL awesome! Mine is Cammy Inada! I never thought about using a pseudonym, but I will now! I think I’m going to finally go for it and try to write a book and publish it (if I have the time because time messes up everything 😉 ) Are you going to use a pseudonym?

  3. This is such a fun idea! When I was younger, I thought about using a pseudonym, but now I’m not so sure. I guess I’ll just have to see! If you used a pseudonym (Besides the ones from the chart), what would it be?

  4. “Augustine Wiggins.”
Nah, I think my name is cool enough on its own. Technically, LEGALLY, my name is Esther Richardson, but I have ALWAYS gone by Tess. Like, ALWAYS. So Tess Richardson, just like that, is AWESOMENESS in my book.
But Augustine is pretty cute. I think I’ll keep it around for a Nano charrie cuz, oh great, I LIKE THIS NAME TOO. (I have this way-long list of book character names that I update and rarely take off of XD)
